CURATING
Alongside her work as a performer, Karolína is the Founder, Artistic Director, and Curator of Music in the Mearns, a concert series based just outside Glasgow. Established in 2023, the series was created to make world-class performance accessible to local audiences while offering emerging musicians a meaningful platform to develop their artistry.
Entirely home-grown and volunteer-run, Music in the Mearns has quickly become a vibrant fixture of Scotland’s musical calendar. Across three seasons, the series has welcomed internationally recognised artists from across the UK and abroad — including members of the RSNO, BBC Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Ensemble, and London Symphony Orchestra - alongside over 35 young musicians, many of whom have performed publicly for the first time.
Each concert is thoughtfully curated to reimagine the traditional recital format. Programmes often blend genres and styles - from classical and folk to jazz, multimedia, and live art exhibitions - reflecting Karolína’s belief that music should be an inclusive and imaginative experience for everyone.
Since its founding, Music in the Mearns has presented more than 15 events, reaching over 1,700 audience members, and was featured on BBC Radio Scotland in 2025. Karolína oversees every aspect of the series - from artistic programming and publicity to performance -  as part of her ongoing commitment to supporting both established musicians and the next generation of performers in Scotland.
